Cosmic Window

During the lockdown, the entire world seems limited to the view from window. Sky which seems already entertaining enough with colors and clouds. A comet that is only visible once every 6,800 years and can be seen with the naked eyes has been trending all over the world with amazing pictures already. I was excited about the comet but the thing about India is we don’t really get the best view seat when it comes to astronomical events.

The sighting was only visible for merely fifteen minutes in the northwestern horizon skies of south India after the sunset. But the June sky often filled with clouds, making it challenging to catch a glimpse of such celestial events.

On the last day this is what I managed to capture, using the worst gear possible Canon 1300D with  250mm lens and no tripod used ( placed camera down with support ). The clouds allowed roughly five-minute window to capture the comet out of twenty days it was visible. The next sighting will be in the year 8780 for earth.

Comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE, also known as NEOWISE, is situated approximately 111 million kilometers away from Earth. The luminous white tail trailing behind NEOWISE is formed by sunlight reflecting off the gas emissions and dust particles encircling the comet.

"Photography is an art of shrinking the world inside viewfinder through a lens, even a window can become a portal that expands the boundaries of what lies beyond its frame.."
